Canon City Wrestling Club (CCWC) is building on the firm legacy of wrestling in our community.
After a coaching change in 2022, seeing Lockdown Wrestling Founder, Chris Montoya’s passing of the torch to long time wrestler and former D2 college wrestling coach Rico Garcia, we are proud to offer a wrestling program that exclusively puts kids first, promotes healthy lifestyles on and off the mat and choses to lead by example.
As we honor the strong legacy that has produced numerous state and multiple national champions we are proud to build in the new era. CCWC is becoming a training hub for kids from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about their growth. We value every wrestler and are proud to offer a two tier program for girls and boys k-8th grade Beginners (aka Rookies) and an Advanced (Committeds).
In Beginners (Rookies) we strive to create a basic understanding of the sport and create a fun atmosphere for 1st and 2nd year wrestlers.
In the Advanced (Committeds) athletes within this tier will be more committed to practice attendance, competing in tournaments, and will have increased coaching exposure due to the consistency in practice attendance.
We say all this to let you know that EVERY KID HAS VALUE because every kid has purpose. Our programs success is measured across all endeavors - on the mat, in the classroom, and in life.
It's our goal that the Canon City Wrestling Club becomes a “sandlot” like group with families exploring WRESTLING, discovering their LIMITS, fining TRAINING, and learning DISCIPLINE.
It is our passion and conviction to use our minds and bodies to instill values, discipline, and leadership to produce Tiger-style kids and families, which will make our communities and our world a safer place.
Our club emphasizes that a Canon City Wrestler be a student first, and wrestler second. We are an organization that strives toward progress on and off the mat. We are always recruiting young ambitious athletes (boys and girls) from the area that want to experience quality competition and as well as character, confidence, discipline and functional fitness.
